DTS Neural ™ Mono2Stereo is a high-quality stereo synthesis tool that aids in the creation of surround content for live broadcast, production and post-production. DTS Neural Mono2Stereo gives you complete control over how mono elements are positioned and perceived in the final stereo mix. You can turn mono channels into stereo for stereo broadcast and broadcast. The resulting stereo content can be converted to 5.1 or 7.1 surround using the DTS Neural Surround UpMix plug-in.

When using DTS Neural Mono2Stereo in multiple instances in sub -mixes or individual mono sources, the audio elements can be spatially separated to preserve intelligibility and create an immersive image almost indistinguishable from native stereo content.

The DTS Neural Mono2Stereo is commonly used in live broadcasts of sporting events, musical performances and award shows. For example, to provide an engaging audience experience watching a live sporting event, it is imperative to capture all the sights and sounds of the game or race. Environmental sounds such as crowd noise, race car engines, broken baseball bats, or football field commentary are often captured as mono sources. The challenge for mixers is to organize all of these complex elements into an immersive mix without masking the announcer's play-by-play commentary.

With the DTS plug-in Neural Mono2Stereo, broadcast engineers can easily create a spectrally balanced stereo image from mono sources, for precise placement in a 5.1 or 7.1 mix. In this way, the ambient effects can be decoded and reproduced as the mixer intended, preventing unwanted ambient content from being routed directly to the center channel.
