If you asked someone in the late 70s and early 80s to name the Holy Grail of synthesizers, the most revered of all was the New England Digital Synclavier. Its unique combination of additive synthesis and frequency modulation provided a creative edge to the few keyboardists, producers, film composers and sound designers who could afford systems ranging from $13,000 to $400,000.

Some of these solid systems are still in use today. Arturia recreated this highly revered hit maker in partnership with original programmer Cameron Jones, providing the immensely rich textures and creative palette of this vintage instrument, while dramatically enhancing it to allow you to open up new musical tracks today with sounds never heard before.

The Synclavier V's unique sound comes from its mix of additive synthesis and FM, with control over 24 additive harmonics in the carrier and modulation oscillators. Where the original instrument allows you to mix four uniquely programmed partial timbres into one Timbre preset, Arturia's recreation has twelve, exponentially increasing your creative possibilities. The Time Slice engine allows for complex sound evolutions over time - up to several minutes if you wish.
