This comprehensive woodwind collection offers over 115 excellent programs, each carefully crafted by the SONiVOX sound design team to be as accurate and convincing as possible. In addition to full orchestral woodwind ensembles, Orchestral Companion Woodwinds also offers a full palette of smaller woodwind sections, plus an amazing collection of solo instruments that are highlighted by dazzling articulation for breathtaking realism.
All the main instruments are fully represented, including section and solo piccolo, flute, english horn, oboe, clarinet, bassoon and contrabassoon. Bending and vibrating, sustained notes and staccato, plus instrument vibrato and glissant voice provide the depth of content needed for convincing wind parts and tracks.
We recorded the Orchestral Companion Woodwinds at the legendary Futura Productions studios in Massachusetts. Members of the Boston Pops and/or Boston Ballet Orchestras played every performance, with the same premium instruments they use for their gala shows and real events. A combination of local and ambient mic'ing captures every instrumental nuance, while preserving the refined acoustics and intimacy of the performance space itself.
Under the expert guidance of SONiVOX sound connoisseur Jennifer Hruska, each session of sample was faithfully recorded by Emmy Award-winning engineers Antonio Oliart and RIAA-awarded engineer John Bono. The musicians were positioned using orchestrally correct seats and measures were taken to compensate for the sound absorption of any musicians absent on that particular day. To maintain a realistic "organic" feel, we use minimal post-record electronic processing. We used two B&K 4011 mics to preserve the much-desired frontal sound (you know, the "good places"), while the higher-level spot mics accurately captured the individual details of each instrument. Reference gauge preamps powered with Troisi Octal A/D converters to complete an uncorrupted signal chain.
Each patch and preset can be played back with ease by virtually any level of musician. All instruments are presented in multi-speed layers, with natural ripples available via the modulation wheel. MIDI key switching provides real-time articulation for certain patches. The built-in sound engine provides additional modulation (LFO) sources, dynamic envelope control and reverb / studio effects to allow creative customization of the built-in sounds.Windows requirements
