The most advanced filter and adaptable of its time
In 1984, audio and electronics legend Tom Oberheim developed an innovative, subtractive analog polyphonic synthesizer; a bold move when the digital synthesizer revolution took over the industry. Standing the test of time, your idealized instrument is now considered a classic, and our emulated version occupies a prominent place in the V Collection. One of the main reasons it turned its head in the 1980s was its audacity, the sheer power of its signal routing options and its multimode filtering.
O The original synthesizer filter employed a single filter per voice, but provides no fewer than 15 different filter modes. This includes Low Pass and three High Pass modes, two bandpass modes, a Notch filter and a phase shift mode. It also included 4 other modes, combining 1-pole low-pass filters with other modes. This unique selection of filter options is largely responsible for the immense power and scope of the legendary Matrix sound.
Now this filter is available as a creative plug-in with power revamped for your DAW.

How if accurately recreating Tom Oberheim's original filter wasn't awesome enough, we've also overloaded this virtual version with contemporary features that we know you'll love.

Possibly thanks to magic from Arturia's True Analog Emulation technology, we originally brought the sonic signature of this '80s icon to the 21st century studio in Matrix-12 V, our critically acclaimed software version of the Oberheim® classic and a jewel in the crown of the Arturia collection V. Call it selfish, but we are a company of musicians and we wanted to unleash the power of the Matrix-12V filter, free it from the software synthesizer, and create an exciting new DAW plugin. To echo the depth and complexity of your synth family, we've overloaded the filter with extra processing, modulation envelopes, and vast routing options with a modulation matrix.
Dual Analog Filters
The plug-in features two discrete analog filters, each identical to the original with cutoff and resonance control, plus all 15 original modes. For the total control freaks, we've also added the filter effect and level control to each filter.
Filter processing
The M12 filter offers 4 filter routing options: A, B, series and parallel, giving you tremendous control over the sound. We've also included a wet/dry button as well as a MatrixBrute-style master cut that affects both filters at the same time.
Modulation envelopes
This control section lets you tweak each of its three envelopes, allowing you to create anything from slowly evolving sonic mutations to complete step sequences. Time-synced or free and easy, continuous or one-shot, it's all up to you.
Modulation Matrix
O brain of the operation. With your filters in place, your processing selected, and your modified envelopes assigned, you can link your envelopes, random, and mod osc to over 20 destinations, all discreetly configurable.
