Don't insult your phrases
AmpliTube Metal is based on award-winning IK DSM™ (Dynamic Saturation Modeling) technology. The product of more than 12 years of research and development, DSM™ delivers unparalleled realism and timbre in the recreation of classic analog equipment like guitar amps and effects pedals. Also, it offers response. Real-life, real-world Amp response and feel, just like playing with your physical gear. And AmpliTube Metal's response brilliantly expresses the note articulation and its expression, unmatched in today's software market, truly becoming the voice of your passion.
How it works
AmpliTube Metal is extremely intuitive - so much so that in fact you don't actually need a MANUAL to operate it. (Don't worry, we'll give you one, but you probably won't need it). Here is the setup:
To use AmpliTube Metal as a guitar or bass tone generator, you have to turn it on your guitar to your computer. You can do this with what's called an "audio interface" (we make some really good ones, click here to check them out). Once connected, AmpliTube gives you the exact signal chain you would use live and/or in the studio: Tuner —> Footswitches —> amp heads —> speaker cabinets —> microphones with ambience effects —> effects of rack. In addition, you can configure two complete setups and use them simultaneously in stereo.
Signal chain
There are also eight different options for Available serial/parallel "routing" gives you full control of the signal chain, allowing you to configure tones for all possible scenarios. You can select different configurations on the fly as you see fit: two pedalboards running on a single split head for two snares, with different mic sets for each, running on a single rack with a compressor and graphic equalizer, just as an example. The combinations are endless.
Speaker, Microphone and Ambience Control
AmpliTube 3 features an incredibly cabinet, microphone and ambience module that allow you to virtually recreate your favorite recording space. You can mic your cabinet with two microphones and freely place the microphones around the speaker to find the "sweet" spot. You can also control the mix between Mic 1 and Mic 2 and change the overall "depth" of the cabinet itself. You can then control the reflection and ambience using the microphone placement tool. All microphone placement options are freely movable (just click and drag), so making room vibration adjustments is a breeze
Presets - the key to performance live
The entire AmpliTube chain can be easily saved, organized and recalled for use via the built-in advanced preset browser. Presets can be marked and stored using a series of searchable, user-defined keywords and attributes. In addition, the Preset XChange online service allows users to post and share presets they create with a growing community of AmpliTube users.
How we did it
Digital charm: the art of science at IK
Since 1997, with the release of the mastering suite modeled on analog T-RackS devices, IK has been one of the pioneers in the field of generation of digital timbres and analog equipment modeling - unraveling the secret DNA and true behavior of analog components and recreating them for the new generation of musicians, engineers and producers. With unique technologies such as DSM™ (Dynamic Saturation Modeling), VRM™ (Volumetric Response Modeling) IK models set the industry standard, evidenced by the recognition and partnership with the most influential brands in the market, such as Fender®, Ampeg ®, Orange®, Soldano® and many more.
IK prides itself on its passionate "Made In Italy" manufacturing heritage and treats each of its models as a unique project - a process that we now believe we have perfected. All originals are meticulously collected and researched, paying extreme attention to critical sonic details like finding the best-sounding model series or same-era speakers to match.
The original amplifier or effect is then precisely measured and its representation in a virtual circuit is then coded in software, with the value of each component and the circuit details carefully matched. Then a comparison of the electrical signals between the original and the model ensures that the model's behavior exactly matches the original circuit behavior in the equipment. After this phase we started a complex audio-engineering comparison with the original effect or amplifier and the modeled version. This is followed by a series of modifications and fine adjustments to the circuitry and sonic characteristics of the model. The result is a sound indistinguishable from the original when fed by the diverse signals and dynamics of a guitar.
Creating a single amp model or effect takes the same amount of time. it would take to build a physical version. All these technologies and development efforts have helped millions of users get the best sounds from their guitars and basses in countless recordings and productions - including legendary bands like AC/DC, Rolling Stones, Coldplay, Guns'N'Roses, Queen, Level42 and more. And we are passionately proud of it.
