Its innovative cascading tube preamp offers multiple gain stages that introduce guitarists to a world of near-infinite sustain and aggressive crunch separate from volume that simply didn't exist before.

The creation of the world's first Dual Mode footswitch amp in 1980, the MARK II, ushered in a new perspective on live guitar performance. Later, the MARK II, III and IV amplifiers revealed virtually all of the now-common functionality expected by professional musicians. From switchable power reduction to effects loop, from switchable rectifiers to switchable loudspeakers, from switchable voices to the built-in graphic equalizer, from simultaneous valve connection modes to channel assignable power range and operating classes, it's all seen first in a Boogie. All of MESA Engineering's designs helped set the stage for a whole new wave of epoch-making sounds and the music those sounds inspired, such as the MESA Dual and Triple Rectifier, which gave the world the searing crunch mid range and the immense, percussive bass that has dominated hard rock and metal since its introduction 24 years ago.
