OVERVIEW

When we started working with award-winning mixing engineer, producer and sound enthusiast Koen Heldens on our series of plug-ins, we didn't have any doubts that we would produce some extraordinary tools.

Koen is the expert when it comes to producing some of the best and most pervasive albums in the hip-hop genre - and despite his experience and understanding of music allow you to create and shape the emotional basis of a song, he also has a deep understanding of the technical aspects and limitations of every plugin and DAW he has in his arsenal.

His essential tools were missing some fine-tuning, so he needed a customized and very specific compressor solution that was like no other on the market today. Their insights into process time, channel linking, and side-chain filtering really propelled the team to create an entirely new tool.

The result of countless hours of development and audition sessions is a compressor unique, beast, that lives up to one of the biggest producers of the moment, and that includes the best leveling amplifier than the Black Rooster. Audio has been developed to date.

FEATURES

4 DETECTOR MODES - HILBERT / PEAK / VINTAGE / RMS

The KH-COMP1 Compressor offers incredible versatility for shaping the envelope that drives this unit - for wide capture or need the side chain level. The 4 detector modes allow for greater flexibility with time parameters and precise threshold control. The Hilbert detector is a 90 degree phase shifter that will show the exact envelope of the signal without any distortion or overshoots. Forget the real peak, this is the real deal!

SC INVERTIBLE FILTER

The sidechain signal can be adjusted perfectly using the invertible filter 2 bands. Both the low and high ends can be processed according to your needs, which will allow more control with reducing, pumping and de-essing effects. With the inversion of the filter, you can surgically cut the middle. With the “listen” option, you can recheck the SC filter settings before being treated by the envelope detector.

BLENDED STEREO-LINK

Mixing dual mono with stereo is very useful when you need detailed control over the relationship between stereo channels and their processing.

KNEE PARAMETER

The knee parameter smoothes the compression effect beautifully, for a perfect result. If you want a more severe effect, let your signal pass the threshold.

OPTIMIZED SSE2 CODE

DSP operations are channeled using the set of SSE2 instructions. This ensures high performance operation despite its very complex calculations.

ZERO LATENCE

The KH-COMP1 is a latency compressor zero that does not require sample delay compensation, making it ideal for real-time monitoring or live environments.

HIGHDPI / RETINA SUPPORT

User interfaces support high pixel density on Windows and Mac OS systems, providing the most pleasant user experience on high DPI monitors. Consult the DAW manual to see if it supports HighDPI if working on Windows.

The series starts with the unique and versatile KH-COMP1 studio compressor (AAX / VST / AU) and will be followed by three additional units, all designed by Black Rooster Audio in collaboration with Koen Heldens.
