Advanced Multiband Distortion
Devastor 2 is the second generation of the first D16 FX Plugin from the SilverLine Collection series. The Devastor is a deceptively simple and remarkable multi-band distortion unit. It's an improved version of the distortion unit you can find in Phoscyon, but with full control over multi-band processing. This takes your sonic distortion capabilities to a whole new level!
Structure
The plug-in consists in four essential blocks:
- Dynamics-flattener module (input signal compressor controlled by a button)
- Clipper-diode distortion
- Three multimode filter sections
- Optionally activated signal limiter
The plug-in offers nine different connection topologies between its filters and diode-clipper. Filters can process the signal before or after it is fed into the diode cutter, but some configurations allow the filters to work alongside the cutter, which considerably increases the possible sonic palette.

Devastor filters are not simply the type of peak equalizer that is commonly used in classic multiband distortion units: they are like those found in analog synthesizers (low pass, high pass, band pass and band rejection) with adjustable cutoff and resonance parameters. As a result, Devastor has a completely unique sound. Just check out the factory contents and listen for yourself!
Versatile and advanced
The Devastor can be used to distort and enhance a wide variety of sounds, from acid synth sounds to guitar fuzz or an analog amp with speaker combination. It can even be used on battery power to make them dirtier and more dynamic! Devastor is not only good at creating distorted and monstrous sounds, it can also be used subtly to improve the timbre and character of softer sounds. For example, lowering the preamp gain, raising the threshold and selecting a soft knee for dynamics will bring more warmth and detail to the sound without introducing distortion.
When designing Devastor, we applied special anti-aliasing techniques to the output signal to ensure it was aliased free (one of the reasons digital distortion units can seem so cold and unmusical). As a result, Devastor has a warm, musical and very high quality sound.
We would like to invite you to listen to the audio samples to whet your appetite and check out the demo version for yourself if you need more convincing. Devastor uses algorithms of such high quality that you would be forgiven in a blind test for wondering if the sound was somehow sent from the computer to an external analog distortion unit and back to the computer again!
