Over 20 years ago, Empirical Labs launched its first compressor, the Distressor. Since then, Empirical Labs has been “bombarded” with requests to produce a compressor in the form of a Plug-In with the same quality to work as “In The Box”…and it would have to be one with that same “creamy sound and easy to use” as the already acclaimed hardware.
The Arousor™ is the only Distressor plugin made by the makers of Distressor Empirical Labs Inc.< /b>
Features:
NEW - SKIP ANYTHING
all of them. As of Rev. 2.2,
RIVET MODE
Achieve maximum gain reduction with Rivet mode along with all the proportions you know and love the Distressor. Modeled after the Nuke ratio of the Distressor, The Rivet provides the highest compression ratio that a compressor plug-in can provide for battery power.
ATTACK MODIFICATION
Tune the attack curve of the compression envelope with AtMod. The modify attack button decreases the initial slope of the attack envelope to add a little more transient back to the track. If you're going to get a little more pressure on the electric bass track, the AtMod will allow transients without losing the desired amount of compression.
COLOR SATURATION
Add some vintage-style harmonic distortion to any track with the soft clipper. Whether you're looking for subtle or extreme amounts of total harmonic distortion, the soft clipper knob merges both distortion settings into the Distressor to give the user full control of the total harmonic distortion without having to adjust the trim input level.
ADVANCED SIDECHAIN DETECTOR Dial exactly where you want compression to trigger with 2-band sidechain EQ. This advanced detector side chain EQ expands both of the Distressor's predefined detection filter circuits into a controllable hi-pass and parametric side chain. Control the exact point in the frequency spectrum where you want the compression to trigger without missing any low-end.
BLEND EXPERT PANEL
Sometimes you need the right amount of parallel processing. Click the "e" button in the Stir Alarm section to open the Expert Panel, where you can match the dry level to the processed signal level.
